June 2012

I was wondering what I had to say about life this past month and what anyone would give a hoot about!  I decided that the thing to do would be to share how I manage to do the things I used to do, only a little differently!

We got our driveway resurfaced and widened as well as a pad for Kent to park on beside the driveway.  My husband the environmental specialist decided to go with recycled asphalt which is asphalt with gravel, old broken asphalt and brick chips.
As this recycled asphalt cured, the fine gravel and sand rises to the surface leaving a loose fine gravel layer on the driveway.  This is not a problem and maybe even kinda nice to some.  What does happen though is the stuff gets picked up in the treads of your shoes and tracked into the house!  As a result, the thing to do is sweep the stuff off the driveway.  Oh, like I could spend a Saturday morning doing that!!  No what I am doing is a short row of sweeping first thing in the morning when I feel good and the weather permits.  It has taken 2 weeks to get half the drive way done.
What to do with this fine gravel and sand?  I am dumping it where the mailman has caused a "rut" when pulling up to the mailbox.
When out there in the yard, whether working or just hanging out with the cats, I keep my phone with me at all times.  Should my legs give out for any reason, I can call for help.  I seem to always have my buddies close at hand but I don't think they could help to get me back on my feet!
Last weekend and the beginning of this week, we have seen some heavy down pours of rain.  Kent had testing to do out at work and the other morning he got this wonderful shot of a rainbow.
Today, I will be finishing up on a 'project' that I have been tackling bit by bit like I have been tackling the driveway.  I will tell you the results of the project next month!
